Our Goals Commitment

Our educational goals will enable
students to:

  • Relate the lessons of the Holocaust and other 20th century genocides to contemporary world situations; instill a recognition of individual response to society
  • Develop an awareness of racism, stereotyping and prejudice
  • Become knowledgeable, sensitive, and responsive to the consequences of "apathy"
  • Appreciate the many forms of resistance with a focus on survivors and resisters (like the "Righteous Gentiles", partisan fighters, etc.)

To meet our educational goals:

The Tolerance Education Program has developed an extensive curriculum designed to educate our target audience of 6th through 8th graders on the affects of unchecked hatred, intolerance, and apathy. Lessons learned by studying the history of the Holocaust (as well as genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda, and Darfur) will give school children the opportunity to create bridges between these historical examples and events playing out within their own lives and in schools today. We hope to create more educated and more tolerant citizens of our youth, those who will be more accepting of the racial, social, and religious differences that exist among their peers. We strive to teach that unchecked apathy can have catastrophic results, and that children should stand up for their views and stand up for each other.
